Images required for Atlas on pictures of transboundary animal diseases: a letter from OIE

Dear Sir/Madam

The OIE is requesting your support in acquiring digital, paper images or colour slides of transboundary animal diseases for development of an atlas for international distribution.

The OIE has been offered the support from USDA and the OIE Collaborating Centre and its partners in the USA to develop this atlas on pictures of transboundary animal diseases. The aim of this atlas is to consolidate into one volume, images reflecting micro- and macroscopic characteristics of key transboundary animal diseases.

The atlas of transboundary animal diseases will replace an older publication offered by OIE known as the Illustrated Manual for the Recognition and Diagnosis of Certain Animal Diseases, volumes 1 and 2. To target the specific images needed, we have enclosed Guide for submission which includes a list of images being sought (storyboards) for this publication. This document also includes additional information needed on the ownership, source and description of the images, as well as the contact details of the USDA focal points managing this initiative, Dr Peter J. Fernández and Ms Elizabeth Clark. The OIE will ensure that all images submitted will receive the proper recognition. Our partners will provide images from their archives library to begin the development of the atlas.

I would encourage you to support and promote this important initiative which will contribute significantly towards a better identification of these important diseases. Please share this information with experts in your country.
